Roberto Garza Bowling 2014On Monday September 29, 2014 Roberto Garza hosted an exciting & fun night of celebrity bowling at Pinstripes in Northbrook. Net proceeds of this event will benefit Special Kids Network with other beneficiaries being Keshet, Best Futures Cafe & the United Way of Lake County. The night commenced with a meet and greet with Roberto and several of his Chicago Bears teammates followed by a star-studded bowling event and silent auction.

This event featured the likes of Host Roberto Garza and fellow teammates Taylor Boggs, Jermon Bushrod, Brian De La Puente, Kyle Fuller, Charles Leno, Kyle Long , Jordan Mills, Michael Ola & Matt Slauson.  Former Chicago Bears Jim Thornton was on hand as well as Former White Sox player Mike Huff, WFLD’s Lou Canellis & Dionne Miller, Northwestern University Women’s Head Lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte Hiller and Campus Insiders Studio Host Ray Crawford.

For many years, Special Kids Network has supported Keshet’s Teen Camp which gives campers ages 11 – 21 the opportunity to participate in overnight programs that highlight vocational training with an emphasis on increasing levels of autonomy for these young adults. Keshet’s impact beyond the schools and summer programs includes its national prominence as a premier training center serving thousands of teachers, students and parents in the treatment of autism through structured learning techniques.

Best Futures Café is a concession stand providing job opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/ID) is now open at the Centennial Ice Arena in Highland Park, IL. Founded by a group of suburban parents in June 2011, Best Futures, Inc. is focused on creating opportunities for sustainable competitive employment in the community for individuals with I/DD.

United Way of Lake County is preparing our children to succeed in a changing world by focusing on education and building safe and stable families. Working with nonprofit agencies and community partners, they have identified four key programs to prepare children to succeed:
-Success By 6 Program – prepare for kindergarten
-Reading Success Program – read at grade level
-Stay in School Program – graduate high school
-Safe and Stable Families Program – empowering families

United Way recognizes safe and stable families are the foundation for a child’s success. Their programs and services are focused on children and families achieving self-sufficiency, which is vital to developing a healthy community.

Athletes For Causes Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. All funding is provided through direct contributions from philanthropic professional athletes, individuals, corporate contributions and special fund raising events. Athletes 4 Causes realizes that giving back to our communities is vital. It is imperative for the success of future generations Athletes 4 Causes manages charitable activities nationwide.
