2013 Golf & Women’s Tournament A Huge Success

DSC_0186The 14th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament sponsored by the Morris Silverman Family and the 9th Annual Women’s Tennis Tournament, took place on Monday July 22, 2013 at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove, IL.  The beneficiary for this year’s event is the recreational programs of Keshet, which serves children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year’s outing was in partnership and broadcasted live by The Score 670 Chicago Sports Radio.

Special Recipients for this event is the Foundation for Retinal Research, Pediatric-Gastrointestinal Research Foundation at the University of Chicago Hospital, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation and the National Stuttering Association.

There were many media and sport celebrities that participate in this year’s event such as Jeremy Roenick (Celebrity Co-Chair), Brandon Bollig, Stan Bowman, Sarah Kustok, Ben Smith, Brandon Pirri, Terry & Alex Broadhurst, Adam Clendening, Blake Geoffrion, Pat Foley, Troy Murray, Neil Funk, Stacy King, Chuck Swirsky, Bill Wennington, Ryan Baker, Chris Williams (Actor & Comedian) and Kathy Hart (Celebrity Co-Chair) of the The Mix 101.9FM to name just a few.

The charity created the annual celebrity golf outing and women’s tennis tournament at Twin Orchards in Long Grove, to develop resources that enable SKN to execute its mission. Since 1999, the event has proven successful, raising more than $1.5 million. This year’s sold out event has continued that tradition, which aims to continue growing each year. The success of these events allows us to continue to contribute funds to the charitable organizations that have come to rely on SKN to fund programs and research. With limited government funding for most social programs, this reliance on SKN has grown even stronger.
